B4 - Localizing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in cities

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a blueprint for a thriving planet where no one is left behind. Increasingly, cities around the world are employing the SDGs to organize their COVID-19 recovery strategies and institute equitable and people-centered approaches as central to government processes.
Despite their benefits to local governments, challenges remain for cities seeking to localize the SDGs: Local governments need to know how to adapt Global Goals intended for national-level government for on-the-ground relevance. In this workshop-style session, participants will learn the steps to “localize” the SDGs through a tested, step-by-step process that enables any local government to align their planning processes for SDG impact.
