The public transit system in Malmö is well-developed and highly interconnected. You will easily be able to use public transit to get to and from the airport or train station and to get around the city while attending the Congress.

Located in the city center, Clarion Hotel Malmö Live is within walking distance of many great restaurants, sights and activities.

Accommodation

Preferential rates have been negotiated for the participants of the ICLEI World Congress 2021 – 2022: The Malmö Summit in a selection of hotels located within a 5- to 20-minute walk from the venue (Clarion Hotel Malmö Live). You can book accommodation directly through the registration platform at the time of registration, or autonomously if you wish to do so.

Transit

  • Getting to Malmö

    By Plane

    The train from Copenhagen Airport leaves every 20 minutes for the City of Malmö and takes only 20 minutes to arrive at Malmö Central Station. You can buy tickets in the App provided by the local transportation company Skånetrafiken, or in machines at the airport. From Malmö Central Station, it is a 5-10 minute walk to Malmö Live. If you prefer, bus numbers 2, 3, 5, 7 or 8 will get you to the venue from the central station in a matter of minutes. The bus stops nearest the venue are Anna Linds Plats and Bagers Plats.

     

    By Train

    If you are arriving by train, you will be able to connect directly to Malmö Central Station. From Malmö Central Station, it is a 5-10 minute walk to Malmö Live or a 3-4 minute ride with bus numbers 2, 3, 5, 7 or 8. The bus stops nearest the venue are Anna Linds Plats and Bagers Plats.

  • Getting around Malmö

    As a participant you are offered free, accessible and fossil-free public transport within Malmö. Walking, cycling and public transport is the first choice for all who work, live or visit in Malmö. With everything nearby, it’s easy to experience Malmö in a sustainable and healthy way. 

    You will have free access to bikes and more than 500 km of cycle paths to choose from.  Participants will be able to rent a bike through Malmö by Bike for free. There are 100 rental bike stations all over the city that are open all year round and around the clock. 

    The buses are run by the transit company Skånetrafiken.  You can find timetables for bus and trains etc. on their website. You can buy tickets through their App or from a ticket machine at Malmö Central station, Triangeln station or Hyllie station, or at Skånetrafiken’s service center at Malmö Central station.     Public transport in Malmö is powered by renewable energy. Most buses run on biogas and the share of all-electric buses is increasing. That way we contribute to making the city more sustainable and the urban environment is also becoming quieter.  Read more about electric buses and other sustainable initiatives here

Visiting Malmö

Whether you are interested in exploring Malmö’s diverse sustainable neighbourhoods, kayaking in the ocean, or visiting one of its many museums, Malmö has something to offer. Sustainability is at the core of The Malmö Summit. ICLEI and City of Malmö are committed to minimizing the negative environmental impact of the event as well as increasing our positive social impact in the community. The congress is environmentally certified according to the Swedish Environmental Base Standard (“Svensk Miljöbas”). But we also encourage you to help us by acting sustainably on a personal level. Together we can make this event both memorable and sustainable.
