Gaming the local sustainable energy transition

Stage 2 (Ground floor)
19/06/2024, 16:30 - 18:00

Transforming our energy systems is crucial for effective climate action. Adopting renewable energy sources, including resources for clean cooking, results in numerous benefits across socio-economic, environmental, climate, and health domains, particularly when carried out in an equitable manner.

We’ll hear from speakers from three regions, sharing experiences and insights on tackling energy challenges in their locales. We’ll focus on the hard questions: how can we accelerate the adoption of renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency measures, and clean cooking solutions, while adhering to principles of justice, inclusivity, and equity?

We’ll finish the session with a ‘serious game’. You’ll get the chance to step into the roles of various local government stakeholders, confronting a specific energy challenge. This immersive experience aims to deepen understanding of the hurdles localities face regarding renewable energy and clean cooking access, and spur discussion on viable, impactful solutions.
