2023 shattered another climate change record: It was not only the warmest year on record but also the first year where every day was at least 1°C warmer than the pre-industrial period. We are confronting a new reality of consistently exceeding 1.5°C, which spells disaster for the world’s most vulnerable populations who are forced to contend with extreme heat, excess water, or water scarcity daily.
We will discuss the implications of living in a post-1.5°C world for cities, towns, and regions worldwide in the face of unprecedented change and uncertainty. Attendees will learn from globally recognized cities and experts who implement cutting-edge resilience initiatives, even in challenging or resource-limited environments.
