Site Visit Description
With the worsening of the economic situation and the consequent increase in the social vulnerability of thousands of families, the City of São Paulo, through the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship (SMDHC), has dedicated efforts to expanding its response to guarantee food security as a human right of the citizens of São Paulo. Municipal Law 17,819, of June 29, 2022, established a series of programs to serve the population in vulnerable situations. One of them is the “Rede Cozinha Escola” with the objective of providing training in the area of food services and, at the same time, producing meals for distribution to the vulnerable population of the City of São Paulo through a partnership between the City of São Paulo and Organizations of Civil Society, at least 400 (four hundred) meals from Monday to Saturday.
The Pinheiros Municipal Market has several sustainability policies that contribute to raising awareness among customers and employees regarding recycling materials. Visitors will be able to understand, through explanations from representatives of partner companies, the recycling processes for cooking oil and various materials, such as plastic, paper, glass, etc. Furthermore, groups will have the opportunity to learn a little about the work of the Parelheiros Ecotourism Center and have contact with local culture, customs and regional cuisine.
