Resilience as a strategy: How governments can reduce extreme event risks and disasters

Stage 1 (ground floor)
19/06/2024, 16:30 - 18:00

We’ll explore losses and damages, including best practices from regions around the world for risk and disaster management. What are the patterns and trends from around the world? We’ll analyze risk management practices in different regions to identify common trends or variations in how cities address disaster contexts. Global speakers will discuss successful prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery strategies that have proven effective in reducing losses and damages, and how to strengthen international cooperation. This includes how to promote policies and programs in different regions to enhance the resilience of institutional and community actions. This is not a one-way conversation – our session will foster mutual learning based on the shared experiences of participants so that everyone understands how to reduce future disaster impacts to protect lives, ecosystems, livelihoods, and urban infrastructure.
